–By Eric Fantin– As the car season starts slowly but surely, the first project for one of our club members is to replace the springs on his Citroen 2CV seats.
The seats are made of simple tubbing and the cushioning is achieved with simple rubber loops with hooks. Over time and with usage the rubber will perish and it is time for replacement.

The job is pretty simple but time consuming.
The first task is to remove the seats starting with rear bench, couple latches and hooks and voila! The seat is out. The front individual seat will then slide out backwards out the adjustable slides, there is always some resistance from dirt and binding but eventually the seats come out.
The next step is to remove the seat covers carefully and the rest is straightforward. Old rubber bands are removed with pliers and the new ones are stretched out and the covers are reinstalled.
In preparation of reinstalling the seats the front slides are cleaned and greased. The front seats are installed first and the rear bench thereafter.
The seating is now back to normal comfort and suppleness, no more sinking onto the floor anymore. The perfect little project to get in the vintage car season!
