{"id":2591,"date":"2022-05-15T04:18:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-15T04:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intermarque.org\/?p=2591"},"modified":"2022-05-16T04:30:32","modified_gmt":"2022-05-16T04:30:32","slug":"a-squirrelly-situation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intermarque.org\/index.php\/2022\/05\/15\/a-squirrelly-situation\/","title":{"rendered":"A Squirrelly Situation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>-By John Engstrom<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A week or so ago, I went out to my Volvo to go to the InterMarque Breakfast at Elsie&#8217;s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I started up the car and got a message that said &#8220;<strong>turn signal light out<\/strong>&#8220;. Then I got another message that said <strong>&#8220;multiple&#8221; lights out<\/strong>. I thought Hmmm, thats really odd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then I got a message that said my <strong>airbag needed service<\/strong>. Way odd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I got home I went to check the bulbs and pulled the headlight assembly out. Easy on a Volvo, you pull out one holding pin and the whole thing comes out. So I pulled it out and found out that the whole harness had been severed. Looked at the harness and further at the main harness, and parts of that were chewed through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Eaten through&#8230;<\/em><\/strong> that&#8217;s when I did <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/news\/a21933466\/does-your-car-have-wiring-that-rodents-think-is-tasty\/\">some research<\/a> and found out that the wire insulation on newer cars was not exactly plastic but made instead of a soy-based material.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what happened is that the Squirrels in the neighborhood got under there and thought &#8220;wire or tasty treat&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had a friend solder all of it back together and the repair was done.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Except&#8230;<\/em>. I thought It needed some help under there.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What I got was some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hondapartsonline.net\/oem-parts\/honda-tape-rodent-19mm-20m-40192317\">Honda Tape<\/a>. It&#8217;s infused with Capsation, the thing that makes peppers hot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It even has little pictures of Rats on it&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hopefully that will do the deed.
