– By Brian Cornell – InterMarque was once again invited back by the Minnesota Car Enthusiasts Club to display some of our unique vehicles at their MINNEAPOLIS MILE car show. Thank you to MNCEC for the invite and the 14 owners who answered to the InterMarque call to get up early on Saturday, August 20 to wait in line to enter the convention center.
We learned this year that all show cars were required to have under 5 gallons of gas. Not a problem for my 2CV that has a 5 gallon tank, but took some planning for the more robustly-equipped touring car tanks. City inspectors were at the entrance to assess fuel gauges and tag cars as inspected. There was also a request to disconnect batteries once inside, but many kept their bonnets closed. Out of sight and mind.
Congrats to the BEST OF SHOW WINNERS as well! I believe there were three winners from the InterMarque stable. Citroën was able to represent two ends of the comfort and speed spectrum with a gold Mehari and SM winning awards. The end of the show was pretty hectic so I only managed to grab of a couple of winner photos before our mass exodus through an exhaust haze.
This is a fun event to make a day out of. Weather inside is always perfect and Brits Pub is a 5-minute walk for a mid-day break on their patio. The variety of cars makes for a quick study of the latest trends in car pimping, primping, and pumping out of horsepower. The age range here skews younger than our usual show attendees and imports were well-represented… which is good news!
