-By Dick Leighninger- Despite an ominous morning sky and brisk temperatures, the 2022 InterMarque Spring Kick-Off in Osseo, MN on May 21, turned into a sunshine event. We estimate that we had about 300 cars present.
Speaker Tom Warth got a good turnout, and just after his presentation, he encouraged a friend to bring his late ‘30’s Alfa Romeo to our show. It drew a large crowd.
The valve cover races also attracted lots of participants, and Greg Gelhar won with his highly engineered racer. He made thin plastic wheels for it. He “smoked” the competition. The track was set up in front of City Hall. Thanks to Joe Demuth and Larry Berg for building the collapsible race track.
The Peoples’ Choice award went to Dave Anderson’s red TR3, and second prize was awarded to Bill and Katre’s white TR3. Third place went to an Alfa Romeo, whose owner left before his prize could be awarded. A fellow Alfa owner said she would convey the prize to him. Alfa Romeo was the featured marque this year and the club presented 18 wonderful examples.
Next year’s show date and featured marque will be selected at our event debrief on June 18, after breakfast at Elsie’s. All InterMarque members are encouraged to attend.
I want to thank the event committee members who once again helped me produce a car show that everyone seemed to like. Kudos also goes to the Osseo Police Department and the City Manager for their support.
