Big thanks to everyone for following the Covid-19 protocols. We are super drivers, not super spreaders!
Thanks to everyone who helped. I salute you all! Especially Reese and Matt Krajniak who formed a new company, Midwest Motoring, LLC, and secured liability insurance so this event could happen. Matt also helped at the entry gate early in the morning, and served as maître d’ for the awards banquet dinner.
If anybody has photos or video taken at the event, I would be delighted to know where you have it posted online so I can send out links and make better advertisements for next year. Searching “Waumandee Time Trials 2020” on YouTube, I see there are already several videos posted.
Please note that Wayne Lee still has a few of the beautiful handmade commemorative “2020 Waumandee Time Trials” mugs for sale (see photo attached). They are collector’s items already! Contact him at wayneleepottery@gmail.com to purchase.
Okay, on to the results:
Here is a PDF of the results. Hope you can read it okay. If you don’t have Adobe Acrobat Reader, go to adobe.com and download it for free.
Permission is granted to publish these results elsewhere, as long as you include a link to our website: https://www.mwmotoring.com/waumandee Due to a procedural mistake on my part, the run times might not be listed in the correct order. All runs should be listed, just not necessarily all in the right order. Please accept my apologies for my mistake.
50 drivers made a total of 204 starts, not counting the Fun Runs right after lunch.
The “Run” column shows the total time from the start at the bottom to the finish line at the top of the hill. All times listed are raw, actual times, not counting the cone penalties. The list is sorted by FTD (fastest time of day) with the quickest drivers at the top.
Numbers in the “C” columns represent cones or hay bales hit. Each hit adds two seconds to your time, but you will only see that reflected in your FTD time, if applicable, as all other times are listed as actual. So, your FTD could actually be your second-fastest “official” time, if you hit a cone on your fastest run.
“DNF” means the car took off from the starting line but did not finish. The 1st run column just says “y” for yes because, as I mentioned at the driver’s meeting, we did not record times on the first run. Exceptions to that are the morning corner workers who drove in the afternoon. Their first runs are listed in the 2nd run column.
I’d like to congratulate Matt Johnson who takes home his first “Fastest Time of Day” award at Waumandee, driving the 1981 Porsche 911 that he shared with his brother Erik. Since both of them managed top-five finishes, they are now both officially inducted into my “Instructor Hall of Fame” and will be allowed to instruct at my future events. Matt dominated the hill, clocking a time of 2:33.80 on his last run up this twisty 2.3-mile course. Nice driving, Matt!
My thanks again to everyone who showed up, pitched in, and smiled back at me from under their Covid facemasks all weekend. I have the time of my life running these events, and I love you all dearly.
Yours in Speed,
– Tom
