-Update by Andy Lindberg –
Linda and I had a picnic lunch in Cherokee Park before Labor Day. You remember Cherokee Park don’t you? We used to hold the InterMarque last-Sunday-of-the-month picnic there. Then the city of Saint Paul closed Cherokee Heights Blvd. on the north side of the park.
The park was almost empty when we were there. A few kids playing on the swing sets and slides. There was also one man letting his bulldog poop on the boulevard. Linda and I were the only picnickers.
Now, after Labor Day, Cherokee Heights Boulevard is open again. The look of Cherokee has changed considerably since InterMarquers were last here. The tables and shelters are still there but the trees have been decimated by the emerald ash bore pandemic so it’s a lot more empty than it used to be. Think those trees will be taller next June? And more people and some cool cars? I hope so.
