– John Engstrom — The Stiff Upper Lip Car Show and Open House 10/12/19
It was a dark and stormy night, actually it was a day, but I always wanted to start like that. It actually was you know, there was your cold weather, your rain and your snow as well. Not a good day for a car show? On the contrary, it turned out to be a wonderful day for the annual BMC Stiff Upper Lip Show and Open House. Not many classics parked outside but lots of cars around the building and loads of people inside. Inside it was warm, well lit and there was plenty of hot food as well as good conversation to be had all around. The MG club had their fall drive that day and ended up at the show as well.
Coming in especially for the show from Rockwood, Ontario, was Joel Jansen of Jule-Enterprises which is a manufacturer of high quality Austin-Healey replacement frames. One of which will be used for a Healey rebuild now in shop. They had a couple of frames on display as well as a table of literature. He had pretty steady traffic around his display for the whole show.
There were plenty of cars on display in the shop. They were customer cars in for work, for modification as well as some for storage. Some tables set up for tool and part displays, and a display area for custom LED light set demonstrations. Lots to see and do at the show/open house.
All in all it turned out to be a good day. The event turned out to be a success for all. Never let it be said that Minnesotans aren’t a hardy bunch that have no trouble showing their stiff upper lip.
