Well, I have been working and driving my MGB around for about a month now. I would say more working than driving but it’s one of those projects that you work on a bit then drive it a bit. Carbs done, ignition done, having some over heating issues. Checked to my thermostat and it did not begin to open until about 185 degrees and it was rated at 160 degrees, so I will start with that. A fix on that might be a lot nicer than driving around town in 90 degree heat with the heater on, but as they say, every trips an adventure. Then after that it’s a brake system fluid change out as well as replacing all the brake hoses. It needs new suspension bushings too, they are on my schedule to get done.
The Mini is still on the needs to be completed list and right now I’m thinking that when I get the MGB to where I want it then I may sell it and sink the money into the Mini…. I keep daydreaming about things I want for it. There’s the new seats, suspension mods, new tires, aluminum head and a myriad of other things I want to buy. I would like to have it done by next years Rendezvous and take it there. But I have been chasing due dates around with that car for quite a while now.
Another work in progress is the missing sprinkler head in my front lawn, it no longer pops up and I spend my spare moments crawling around in the front yard with a rough diagram of the system, clawing around into the dirt with my fingers and poking about with a small garden shovel. I just cannot find it, I am beginning to call it King Tuts sprinkler head.
So if your driving around and see an old guy crawling around in his front yard, a garage door open, an MGB up on stands next to a Mini on stands, your at my house, stop in and say hello, I have beer you know.
