By Kick-Off Chair John Engstrom –
While the day started out kind of rocky, with parking problems, the Osseo police worked very hard and straightened everything out for us. Kudos to the police chief and the officer on duty for all of their hard work.
This year, we had a total of 214 vehicles in the show. A very good turn out for a day that was cool and cloudy. Very good indeed.
Congratulations to Eileen Wetzel for winning the People’s Choice award for her racing Austin-Healey! Thank you to the Girl Scouts for distributing the materials and to all of you who donated to vote.
Each year we seem to have a few more cars added. The event keeps growing. This year, the clubs with the most cars were MG and Triumph. We had 23 MGB’s and MGA’s, beating out the Triumphs by one car.
This year there were many interesting cars. We had a Volkswagen-based Puma, a Ford GT, Thames, Borgward, Lloyd, Fiat, TVR, Anglia, Datsun, Toyota, Mazda, Miata, and some conversion cars (an MGB V6 and a Honda powered Sprite to name two of them). We also had the entire Singer club among many other attendees.
It’s good to see a great variety of cars in the mix. The variety makes for a fun event. The featured car marque this year was the MG T-series. We will be drawing names out of a hat next Saturday for next year’s featured car marque.
I certainly want to thank the attendees, clubs and the volunteers who helped out with the event. These are the people who make the event possible and a success.
