Updates from Spring Kick-Off Chair John Engstrom
If only I had all the money back that I spent on cars over the years, I would take it and spend it on cars.
First thing is that I have had to change some of the Spring Kick-Off planning meeting dates. The meeting date for March remains the same but the next two meeting dates have changed.
- March 24th
- April 14th
- April 28th (FINAL MEETING)
All of the meetings are at Elsie’s Dining and Bowling, 729 Marshall Street N.E., Minneapolis 55413
Elsie’s is on Marshall, south of Broadway, easy to get to. Breakfast is at 8AM every Saturday morning where you can enjoy good food and a lively conversation. We generally have a meeting room all to ourselves. CLICK FOR ELSIE’S WEBSITE
This year why not make a commitment to attend a bunch of Vintage Foreign Auto events? There is a lot going on from the Spring Kick-Off in May, all the way up to the middle of October. There are a number of car shows that will take place besides the SKO. There is a big show in Hudson, Wisconsin, the Jaguar show has been moved to the Auto Motor Plex for just this year. There is a show scheduled to be held at Brits in downtown Minneapolis where you can park out front on Nicollet Avenue, another show at BMC in conjunction with the Jaguar club as well as other club events around town. Not in the mood for a show? Try a picnic instead! Each month throughout the summer the InterMarque sponsors a picnic on one Sunday afternoon. Still want more? There are other club events that take place, The Twin Cities Rally Club holds events throughout the summer (and winter too), for Autocross events try the Minnesota Auto Sports Club who not only organizes Autocross events but some hillclimbs too. If your into racing your vintage car or just going to watch vintage racing you can try the Twin Cities Vintage Sports Car Racing club (VSCR) who’s members go around to a lot of regional tracks and have racing events. A couple of events outside of these are the Waumadee Hill Climb later in the summer plus an AutoCross and speed run that takes place at one of the airports around the area. Keep in contact with the clubs for just drives or other events.
Lots to do this summer, something for everyone and keep some time open for events !!
