Austin-Healey Time!

A slightly different “Christmas Story” by Dan Powell

As the Christmas season approached I decided to buy my son yet another Austin-Healey related gift… no, not a car, but a clock. Not just any clock, but a clock that appears to be a Healey speedometer!

I ordered the clock from Chronosclocks.com which I found out about from their ad in Classic & Sports Car magazine. They are located not too far from Stonehenge in England… they may time the clocks using the stones there… don’t know for sure, but in England just about anything can happen.

The clock I chose had a speedo that looked like the one my Healey (BT7) had before it was swapped out for race gauges, with a “number plate” and two other small gauges. It’s about eleven inches square. Looking at their website it’s obvious that they offer something for everyone, from Alvis to Wolesley, plus some aircraft gauges.

I placed my order on November 22nd, and about three weeks later it hadn’t arrived (misdirected mail, porch pirate, etc).  Since he sends the packages Royal mail (then USPS) I didn’t have any way to track the package so I contacted Chris at Chronosclocks.  He confirmed it had been sent and should have been received within ten days or so… then, without my broaching the subject, said he would send me a replacement at no cost, but it would arrive after Christmas… once I picked myself up off the floor I thanked him and waited for the replacement to arrive. It did, and my son has it proudly displayed on his office wall along the some other Healey memorabilia

The point of this story is that there are interesting Healey bits out there if you look for them AND there are vendors like Chris who deserve to be recognized and patronized .  Give the website a look… you will likely want to buy something.
